  • Modifications in progress:
Hayden Transmission Cooler,MP SBEC (bad pinging problem)
  • Planned modifications:
15x8 wheels, 265x60 tires, Electric Fan, Sure-Grip Diffirential, Mild Lock up torque converter 2500-3000, 1.6 Roller Rockers, Mopar's Magnum Cam and Lifters, Mopar Valve Springs, Extrudehone Intake (from Magnum Performance), and after an engine rebuild in four or five years either a supercharger or a well set up nitrous system
  • If money were no object:
Baer Disc Brakes, Completley new sound system, new motor blueprinted and balanced with Extrudehone heads, upgraded automatic (slightly higher stall lock-up torque converter, numerically higher ratio first and second gears, with an overdrive somewhere in the neighborhood of a .65), Ram-Air hood and system, new paint job, completley new suspension (and I mean everything), and maybe shoe horn a Viper V-10 and its driveline (which would obviously take the place of some of the above mods)
  • Additional modification comments:
My ultimate goal (at least it's ultimate for now) is to retain the truck's present fuel economy (20-21 highway, 17-19 city) while running fourteens in the quarter, maintaining good reliability, and keeping the truck a joy to drive.

  • Performance comments:
Truck is plagued by some serious traction problems due to the peg legged rear end. My advice to anyone buying a Dakota is to get the sure-grip, it's worth it. Also, the cause of the pinging problem with the MP SBEC seems to be a leaking intake manifold gasket which I will change soon.
