This is the DML event! :-) The annual DML BBQ and Trail ride is an extremely informal get-together at my place in Forestville, NY for off-roading and good times. We drive on the trails, churn through the mud pit, try to climb the waterfall, drive in the ravine, BBQ up some hot dogs and burgers, check out each other's trucks, sit around the bonfire at night and hang out in general. We also try to put in an appearance at the local ice cream shop on Saturday or the local cruise-in on Friday; a long convoy of muddy trucks is always good for a few double takes and comments. ;-)
There is absolutely no admission charge or anything like that, but there will be a "donation can" which you can drop something into if you feel like helping to offset some of the food expenses. You are also welcome to bring food items if you wish (chips, pop, etc.), though this is neither expected nor required. (A fridge and freezer is available for anything you might want to bring.)
A few folks usually bring along some "adult beverages" and this is certainly acceptable, but please be aware that consuption of alcohol is strictly prohibited on or prior to the trail rides. It must stay in the fridge until we are done for the day.
This is a "participate at your own risk" event. Any time a group of people go tramping (and driving) through the woods and ravines, injury to persons or vehicles is a possibility. The offroading is as mild or wild as you want to make it. There are bypasses for all the major obstacles, and if you make a choice, you are expected to be responsible for the outcome of that choice. :-) Even though the trails are fairly mild, if you do not feel comfortable taking your vehicle off-road, you are under no obligation to do so. There are always plenty of vehicles left back at the shop when we hit the trails, and plenty of extra seats for folks to ride along.
This is a family event, and always a lot of fun!
