- Ordered QUICKSILVER MX-II SPRINT 582 kit last May ('96) through Air Tech (LA).
Took delivery in July. 180 hrs. to build. First flight Sept 11.
Reg'd Experimental: N 1154Z. Total of 15 hours before storing for winter.
(It's cold up here in NH!)
Now in process of adding Full Lotus Floats, Lakeland Ultralights Amphibious
Gear, and Strut Brace Kit from South Mississippi Light Aircraft.
It's not going to be ultralight anymore more, but I'm looking forward to
water landings and keeping my bird on the beach at my camp on Goose Pond (Canaan, NH).
September 1997 Update:
Have been flying the amphibious bird now for three months - all systems functioning well. It’s great landing on water yet having the versatility of going back to my land-based hanger with just a pull on the gear handle. The “MY-T-LYT” is now a true amphibian and I regularly alternate between a grass strip in Vermont and the beach at my lakeside camp in New Hampshire. I’ve logged about 40 hours this summer.
Around this part of the country there is not a lot of open land, but there are plenty of lakes and ponds. Having water landing capability adds greatly to the fun and safety of flying around here. Even with a cruising speed of 45 mph, this has got to be the most fun airplane I’ve ever flown! ... now, if this warm weather would just last until December!
Would like to hear from anyone doing similar things and/or residing up here
in this neck of the woods. It's not ideal UL territory!
